Everything you need to know before your charter adventure

We recommend booking as early as possible — especially for peak season (October–January) when demand is highest. Many clients reserve their charter months in advance. For the best availability and boat selection, don't wait until you arrive in Cabo.
If the Cabo Port Captain closes the harbor due to severe weather, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule at no cost. Client cancellations on deposits are non-refundable. We recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your trip investment.
No. Each charter is private — your boat is reserved exclusively for your group. You'll never share the boat with strangers, ensuring a personalized experience tailored to your pace and preferences.
Gratuity is not included in the charter price. A tip of 15–20% of the charter cost is standard; 20–25% is exceptional and reflects outstanding service. Tips are split equally between the captain and first mate.
We recommend arriving at the marina by 6:15 AM for a 6:30 AM departure. Full-day charters run approximately 8 hours, returning around 2:30–3:00 PM. Half-day charters run 5 hours. Afternoon departures are also available upon request.
Our charters include all fishing tackle and bait, a professional bilingual captain and first mate, fishing licenses for all passengers, and basic beverages. Food and premium drinks are available as an add-on. Check each boat listing for specific inclusions.
We recommend: high-SPF sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses, light comfortable clothing (and a light jacket for early mornings), non-slip shoes or sandals, seasickness medication if needed, a camera, and cash for tips and extras. Leave valuables at the hotel.
Absolutely. Sportfishing is a great family experience. Children under 12 are not required to have a fishing license. We do recommend bringing extra sunscreen, electrolyte drinks, and seasickness medication for younger passengers as a precaution.
Yes — Cabo offers excellent fishing 12 months a year. October is widely considered the best month overall, coinciding with the Bisbee Tournament. Summer months are peak for Marlin, Dorado, and Yellowfin Tuna. Winter brings Striped Marlin and Roosterfish. Check our Fishing Calendar for full detail.
No charter can guarantee a catch — that's the nature of fishing. What we do guarantee is that our captains know these waters intimately and will put you in the best possible position. Cabo has some of the highest catch rates in the world, and our record speaks for itself.
Yes, for most species. It is illegal to fillet or clean fish at sea or in the marina. We recommend Griselda's Smokehouse at the marina — they'll clean, fillet, vacuum-pack and freeze your catch for pickup on your departure day. Some species (like Marlin) are catch-and-release by regulation.
Yes, as long as it's well-frozen and in a leak-proof container, subject to your airline's baggage restrictions. US Customs allows personal-use quantities of fish. We recommend checking with your airline in advance. Trophy mounts require additional permits from US Fish & Wildlife.
Yes. Mexican law requires every passenger on board to have a valid fishing license — even if they're only observing and not fishing. Children under 12 are exempt. We handle all licensing on your behalf; it's included in your charter price.
The marina is easily accessible by taxi or Uber from any hotel in the Cabo corridor. Note that some resorts restrict Uber access to their property — check with your concierge. Once confirmed, we'll send you exact dock location and meeting instructions.
We recommend taking motion sickness medication (like Dramamine) the night before and the morning of your trip. A good night's rest and avoiding heavy meals before departure also help. Cabo waters are generally calm, but being prepared is always smart. No refunds are given for seasickness.
It depends on where the fish are that day — anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 hour offshore. We fish the most productive spots: Gordo Banks, the 1150 seamount, Santa Maria and San Lucas Canyons, and the San Jaime and Golden Gate banks, up to 25–30 miles out.
